These are some examples of clients we have helped.
Benefits
Sarah (not her real name) is a lone parent with a small child, living in a mortgaged property. Sarah has mental health and physical health problems and her child has learning disabilities and needs care. Sarah used to work but had to give up her job due to health problems and her child’s care needs. This meant a reduction in Sarah’s income so she was struggling to maintain her essential expenses.
We did a benefit calculation and identified that Sarah was missing out Child disability Element in her Universal Credit. We also advised Sarah how to apply for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) due to her physical and mental health problems.
Now Sarah is getting these two benefits her income has increased and she is able to manage her essential expenses.
Debt
Ahmed (not his real name) is a client with No Recourse to Public Funds. He came to us after receiving a Council Tax bill. Ahmed has no income and is fully reliant on family support and unable to pay the bill.
Our debt team assessed the Ahmed’s situation, contacted the council on his behalf, and explained his financial vulnerability.
Thanks to our advocacy, the council agreed to write off the debt entirely.
